BancTec, a global provider of advanced, high volume, document and payment processing solutions and services, today announced the appointment of Richard E. Mobley as vice president of its Healthcare Services Division.

“We are excited for Richard to join BancTec,” said Jeff Brown, vice president of BancTec’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) practice in the Americas. “He has a very strong background in healthcare technology and services, and will be a valuable addition to our team as we continue growing our presence in the industry.”

Mr. Mobley previously served as vice president of electronic data interchange (EDI) services with Cerner Corporation. Prior to that position, he was a senior vice president responsible for the creation and development of the e-Health division for Per-Se Technologies. Mr. Mobley has held other senior management and sales and marketing positions with Medic Computer Systems, TeleClaims, and Healthpac Computer Systems.

Mr. Mobley has served in various leadership positions with the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI), as well as other HIPAA transaction industry organizations.

Over the past year, BancTec has expanded its healthcare services and solutions, with particular emphasis on its BPO offerings. In the U.S., BancTec introduced its RemitCycle 360™ revenue cycle management solution, which automates and unifies the administrative and financial events between providers, payers and banks. This BPO solution combats a huge source of inefficiency in the healthcare system by facilitating electronic processing of explanation of benefits (EOB) forms and money transfers from health insurers to medical providers. BancTec has also taken a leadership position in the industry through the Medical Banking Project, which is working to coordinate the efforts of academic, business, government and healthcare leaders to improve healthcare costs, quality and access.

BancTec, a global provider of advanced, high volume document and payment processing solutions and services, has signed an agreement to provide support and installation services for mail inserting equipment sold by Sensible Technologies. This agreement adds another product line to the growing capabilities of BancTec’s infrastructure services group, which in addition to its traditional expertise servicing check processing equipment, began providing maintenance on high-speed, continuous form printers last year.

“Sensible Technologies has built a thriving business rebuilding and adding unique technology to mail inserters, which must then be serviced after the sale,” said Terry Holash, vice president Americas infrastructure services, BancTec. “This exclusive agreement enables us to leverage our national coverage model as well as the ability of our technicians to provide a wide variety of maintenance services within the mailroom environment. We look forward to working with Sensible Technologies to build a robust partnership that facilitates the mailroom process for both new and existing customers.”

“BancTec’s infrastructure services group has deep technical understanding and a wide service footprint,” said Earle Painter, executive vice president, Sensible Technologies. “These factors were important in our decision to establish this partnership, as was BancTec’s familiarity with the mailroom environment. We’re confident that the combination of our proprietary inserting technology and BancTec’s service responsiveness will provide our customers with an extremely cost effective, productive solution.”

Under the agreement, BancTec will provide Sensible Technologies’ customers with service and support on mail inserters to which it has added proprietary technology, including its Document Reliable System (DRS). The DRS system is designed to provide accurate verification, reporting of transactional documents and accountability for statement and check processing.

Sensible Technologies serves nearly any large mailroom-processing environment, with particular expertise in Direct and First Class service bureaus.

BancTec, a global provider of advanced, high volume document and payment processing services and solutions, recently expanded the service hours provided by technicians in its ITSM division, enabling the company to win a significant new contract.

Said Brendan P. Keegan, BancTec senior vice president and president of the ITSM division, “We have always sought to do what is necessary to meet the needs of our clients, whether it is adding new capabilities or expanding our service footprint. Recently, a large technology provider wanted our technicians to be available after normal business hours and on weekends, in order to meet the needs of its customers. Acting quickly to re-align and expand our service delivery model, BancTec was awarded a significant amount of new business valued in excess of $6 million. We believe the real value will come when we scale this model across our entire customer-base, thus providing the ability to pursue other new business opportunities.”

BancTec’s ITSM division provides comprehensive deployment and maintenance (i.e., “break-fix”) services on computers, servers, printers, peripherals and networks for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and information technology outsourcing (ITO) service providers. The division services 100% of the United States, and includes significant operations in Canada and nine European countries. Of the division’s 1,217 employees, more than 1,000 are full-time engineers and technicians. BancTec’s ITSM division is a recognized leader in quality of service, and in 2007 was named Dell Inc.’s General Procurement Partner of the Year.

Mark Fairchild, senior vice president and chief technology officer for BancTec, a global provider of advanced, high volume document and payment processing services and solutions, will deliver one of the featured presentations at TAWPI’S 2008 Payments in Transition conference, which will be held April 15-16, 2008 at the Westin Casuarina Las Vegas Hotel, Casino and Spa.

During the conference, registered attendees will also have an opportunity to view BancTec solutions in operation during a site tour at the Las Vegas Valley Water District, which is utilizing the company’s PayCourier® and PayCourier® Archive solutions to help it process approximately 125,000 payments each month. BancTec representatives will be at the show to discuss this solution, as well as others for remittance processing, accounts payable automation, mailroom automation, business process management and remote capture.

Mr. Fairchild’s presentation will explore the opportunities and challenges related to the convergence of document processing and payments automation. Attendees will learn how organizations must develop a new vision for capturing, processing, managing, archiving and delivering mission-critical information. Specifically, Mr. Fairchild will talk about the increasing diversity of the payments mix; extending the boundaries of processing environments; integrating and collaborating among traditional organizational silos; and positioning organizations to compete.

“BancTec offers a robust solution suite that is helping companies save time and money in their payment processing operations, while finding new ways to leverage the hidden value in their backroom processes,” said Fairchild. “We look forward to sharing some of our insights developed in working with many companies, such as the Las Vegas Valley Water District, to improve and automate their document and payment processing capabilities.”

TAWPI (The Association for Work Process Improvement) is a membership association dedicated to helping practitioners in the payments automation, distributed capture, and imaging and forms processing arenas maximize their value as professionals, enhance operations efficiency and effectiveness, and position their organizations for success in the future. The mission of the Payments Capture and Clearing (PCC) Council is to identify, understand, and contribute to the development of payment channels and clearing options that will benefit the future direction of payment processing operations.

TDX Group and BancTec to Provide Fully Managed IVA Processing Outsource Service to Leading Financial Institutions http://www.banctec.com/newsroom/2008/04/11/tdx-group-and-banctec-to-provide-fully-managed-iva-processing-outsource-service-to-leading-financial-institutions/ http://www.banctec.com/newsroom/2008/04/11/tdx-group-and-banctec-to-provide-fully-managed-iva-processing-outsource-service-to-leading-financial-institutions/#comments Fri, 11 Apr 2008 14:46:53 +0000 Jonathan http://www.banctec.com/newsroom/2008/04/11/tdx-group-and-banctec-to-provide-fully-managed-iva-processing-outsource-service-to-leading-financial-institutions/

TDX Group, leading provider of analytics-based debt management solutions, and BancTec, a leading global provider of advanced, high-volume document and payment processing services and solutions, are working together to provide leading financial institutions with a fully managed IVA processing outsource service.

TDX Group formed “The Insolvency Exchange” (TIX) 17 months ago and, with BancTec supplying the Mailroom processing systems and services, is now providing a full end-to-end insolvency management platform that processes Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) proposals on behalf of creditors, analytically decides which proposals to accept, optimises the lifetime return and manages each IVA through the 5 year term of the arrangement.

BancTec’s experience in mailroom business process outsourcing (BPO) in the financial sector and ability to automate and streamline document and labour intensive transactional processes, brings the latest technologies and a business process infrastructure capable of efficiently processing all IVA cases and debtor payments. This significantly reduces the time taken for all IVAs handled through TIX, ensuring each IVA is properly considered.

Says Carol Hine, Head of TIX Operations, “By employing BancTec’s payment and document processing competences, which greatly improves our processing timelines, TDX Group is left to focus on its own core competences of analytics-based debt management.”

Processing IVA proposals is labour-intensive as they tend to be non-standard, with pertinent information scattered throughout the document. Without appropriate management systems this can lead to duplication, delays, and lost paperwork. “However”, says Carol Hine, “outsourcing has dramatically improved the average time for each proposal to be appropriately processed. One of our clients is now seeing savings of between 10% – 20% of the total value of debt being written off. The total of debt write-offs in 2006 was over €10 billion (£8 billion) and the TIX programme is leading to some considerable savings for a major High Street bank.”

“TIX offers a “win-win” situation to all parties”, Carol Hine comments. “By using advanced analytics and technology to ensure all of the circumstances of the debtor are considered appropriately, our service enables improved validation that an IVA is the most appropriate solution for the debtor. This ensures that clients’ shareholders interests are well considered and its customers get the best impartial advice from Insolvency Practitioners and are not ushered into insolvency without understanding its full implications.”

The outsource service was launched within 6 weeks of the contract agreement between TDX Group and BancTec and, within the first 2 months, TIX had managed over 4,800 IVA proposals through the new service. In addition, the IVA data became more accurate and reliable enabling TIX to provide stronger analytics to perform a higher standard of accurate voting for its creditor clients.

The process itself is now a highly intelligent and flexible service. Each pack has to be analysed by specially trained operators to extract the necessary data required for each voting application. Technology also plays its part with BancTec providing the back end processing infrastructure and TDX Group providing the front end voting analysis and managing the decisioning and voting activities for the creditor meetings. The technology used includes a highly tailored analysis software application, a specialist high volume scanning system, a state of the art workflow solution developed specifically for the TIX platform and a hosted archive providing immediate, secure access to all proposals for TDX Group staff to analyse.

TIX, assisted by BancTec are now working with the major practitioners and the Insolvency Service to formulate common standards to apply across the IVA process throughout the industry. The TIX platform now handles approximately 80% of all IVAs completed within the UK. Many new customers have come on-board the TIX platform to share similar benefits including some of the largest creditor organisations in the country.

BancTec, a global provider of advanced, high volume document and payment processing solutions and services, has acquired DocuData Solutions, an imaging, content management and media storage business process outsourcing (BPO) services provider with operations centers throughout Texas. The acquisition supports BancTec’s strategy to expand its BPO business worldwide, adding 3 Texas processing centers to its 4 existing U.S. sites and 11 European sites.

“DocuData’s long history of providing BPO services for an impressive set of clients, coupled with the reach and resources of BancTec, will enable us to expand our outsource offerings and provide a higher level of service to our clients.” said J. Coley Clark, BancTec chairman and chief executive officer. “We look forward to leveraging our joint capabilities and previous success as business partners to grow our BPO businesses.”

“This agreement enables DocuData to become part of a global, $380 million company that has more than three decades of document processing experience. While our day-to-day work on behalf of clients will not change, the opportunities we can pursue and the solutions we can deliver will expand significantly,” said Brian L. Rathe, president of DocuData Solutions. “I look forward to becoming part of the BancTec family and finding new ways to take advantage of our joint technology, solutions and BPO offerings.”

DocuData’s BPO services center around digital imaging and vault storage for critical business media. The company currently operates three secure, state-of-the-art production facilities in Dallas, Houston, and Austin, Texas, where it converts and manages more than 250 million images annually. While DocuData provides customized solutions for many industries, it has built particular expertise in serving clients in healthcare, government, energy, mortgage and general commercial segments of the market.

DocuData has been a BancTec client for several years, and in June of 2007 the two firms partnered to increase the efficiency of DocuData’s BPO platform by deploying BancTec’s image capture and management platform, IntelliScan, in its processing centers. The partnership proved vital to the success of DocuData’s recent client acquisitions and has fueled the company’s growth and created a competitive advantage.

DocuData will operate as a division of BancTec and will continue to be known as DocuData Solutions. Brian Rathe will remain with DocuData, reporting to Michael D. Fallin, senior vice president and president, Americas and Emerging Markets.

Financial terms of the transaction were not announced.

BancTec Announces New Addition to Document Processing System - IntelliScan SDS http://www.banctec.com/newsroom/2008/03/04/banctec-announces-new-addition-to-document-processing-system-intelliscan-sds/ http://www.banctec.com/newsroom/2008/03/04/banctec-announces-new-addition-to-document-processing-system-intelliscan-sds/#comments Tue, 04 Mar 2008 11:00:54 +0000 Jonathan http://www.banctec.com/newsroom/2008/03/04/banctec-announces-new-addition-to-document-processing-system-intelliscan-sds/

BancTec, a leading global provider of advanced, high-volume document and payment processing services and solutions, today announced at the AIIM International Exposition and Conference the launch of IntelliScan® SDS, the latest addition to its IntelliScan® line of high-capacity production scanners. The mixed document scanner, with its fully open track, provides customers with a robust document processing system that dramatically improves throughput and reduces recovery time from paper jams, resulting in significantly lower operating costs and outstanding price performance.

IntelliScan SDS has one of the smallest footprints of open track scanners in the market, which makes it the perfect scanning system for mid-volume and/or distributed environments. Featuring many of the same benefits that have made the IntelliScan® XDS a leader in the industry, the IntelliScan SDS delivers rapid performance for multi-purpose page scanning applications in either centralized or distributed environments. The IntelliScan SDS operates at speeds up to 200 pages per minute (ppm) and supports optical resolution of 300 dpi.

Mark Fairchild, senior vice president and chief technology officer for BancTec, said, “The IntelliScan SDS is an important addition to our information processing platform. It has many of the same productivity- and efficiency-generating features for which our IntelliScan XDS has become known, and is a smaller, cost-effective entry point for customers still needing a high-volume production scanner. We believe there is no other scanner on the market that has all of the features of IntelliScan SDS at the same price point. With its completely open, flat track design, advanced 500-page document feeder, and ease in error recovery, IntelliScan SDS will help organizations process more documents faster and at a higher resolution, delivering an exceptional return on investment.”

Mark Schneider, director of business solutions for CRI Solutions, added, “The IntelliScan SDS creates a significant new opportunity for BancTec to serve customers who want to leverage the company’s longtime expertise in document processing, but who have lower volume requirements or a distributed environment that is tight on space. IntelliScan SDS is a perfect complement to the rest of the IntelliScan solution suite, and will help serve a wide variety of business processes, including healthcare claims, mortgage loan applications, credit card processing, order fulfillment and more.”

Key features of IntelliScan SDS include:

  • A completely open, flat track that handles mixed document processing for sizes up to 12”x14”
  • Document skew detection and correction
  • Advanced 500-page document feeder
  • Image capture of color, bitonal and grayscale in a single pass
  • Real-time OCR recognition technology
  • 1D and 2D barcode recognition

BancTec, a global provider of advanced, high volume document and payment processing solutions and services, will feature its IntelliScan line of high-production volume scanners as well as its growing portfolio of BPO services, at the AIIM International Exposition and Conference, March 4-6, 2008 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. BancTec will be located in booth #1831.

AIIM is the world’s largest educational conference and exposition dedicated to content and information management products and solutions. Records Managers and IT buying teams attend each year to learn how to capture, store, manage, find, share, compile and analyze information.

This year at AIIM, BancTec Vice President of Portfolio Management and Software Development, Neil Snowdon, will deliver a presentation on how companies must expand their digital horizons beyond basic capture and workflow automation. Mr. Snowdon’s presentation will take place on Wednesday, March 5, from 10:10 AM – 11:00 AM in room #160A of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

“BancTec continues to build a solution and services platform that enables organizations to take control of their information and achieve significant efficiencies and cost savings in their document and payment processing operations,” said Chuck Corbin, BancTec vice president of corporate marketing. “We have built particular expertise in leveraging our leading edge hardware and software solutions within a BPO services framework that takes advantage of an international footprint of facilities. AIIM is always an important show for us, especially for introducing new solutions that help companies with the management of their information, business processes and technology infrastructure.”

At AIIM, BancTec will also demonstrate how its broader portfolio of software, hardware and services forms a robust and flexible platform that meets today’s most demanding information processing and management requirements. In addition to the IntelliScan suite of high-production volume scanners, BancTec’s solutions on display will cover its capabilities in accounts payable automation, mailroom automation, business process management and healthcare revenue cycle management. Of particular significance is the company’s ability to tie various components of its and other vendors’ solutions into fully outsourced and managed business processes.
